Although; some people forget to pay their bills, and everyday, we make these mistakes. However; I was planning regularly when bills are due, and why it's important to pay bills first, before you do anything. I've learned an answer from my sister in the another town who is currently in debt or something... but I always pay my bills first. However; this is my personal experience when paying my bills like a responsible person.
Example:
You are just going to the movie store, and you simply waste money on entertainment, along with buying food randomly for your kids,--giving them unsolicited meals what they refused to eat, force-feeding, and spending money on expensive premium cable services!
Your bill arrives, and you don't have enough money to pay your bills. All of that spending what you did incorrectly has result you to a big bill that is expensive. This is a major waste of your money what you supposed to use to pay bills first.
Your cable shuts off, your power shuts off, and your water shuts off,--and even your gas shuts off. You are kind of in debt, and you have to find a way to escape it. You experienced a delay of payment at work, or you have to wait for your SSI benefits to arrive in your banking account, or by check. This is kind of scary if you are this kind of a person who has the another source of income that is too weak.
Bills Always Go First!
Before you ever use your money for any activities like going to the movie store, or even supporting the church, you should always keep some of your money in your banking account,--just like I do. For this instance, if you had a website ran via a server owned by a company, your bill arrives in multiple forms, it can arrive via email, or a paper statement displaying your balance. However; most hosting company bill customers for their services. If you use a cable service for your internet and phone, you rely on these services to keep you connected 24/7. You had a water service, and electrical service for your daily use. Like most services what we use everyday, they rely on customers who pay on a monthly basis. If you ever visit each website, website owners use ads, paywalls, and subscriptions to keep their websites running, enabling customers to use the internet for many uses. If you are a talented user who relies on a website to blog, and you used a paid service, it's always a good idea to watch for these invoices coming in the mail!
If you pay the bills first, and you saved the rest of your money for other uses; you can use it to do other stuff, but you have to save some of your money,--until payday,--if you had a job. For SSI-enrolled people, you need to wait up to a month for your SSI funds to arrive, and the cycle repeats.
What to do if you have bills to pay first?
Here's what you need to do when your bills arrive:
- Save - always save money when your money is not in use. For example; you received a payment of $350.00; and you had $240.78 saved in your banking account. You should always save money on a regular basis. Saving up all of your money before bills arrive in mail, or email is important to keep you ahead of your bills due. If you've been enrolled for SSI when you are disabled, or you don't have any job available. But SSI is intended for the disabled, and people via a higher age who used to work, or can't work at all. If you make money with your projects, always pay your bills regularly, that also include taxes too! Overtime, your savings may grow, and your financial stability enhances.
- Plan - write down your important bills what you need to pay first, if you already written your plan, and you need to make adjustments, write a new plan. For example; you can add some extra dollars to help offset your bills. Most pre-paid phone services allow you to add a custom amount to be at least 1 dollar greater than a normal amount. If you have extra money, only add additional money to your bills,--if you know what you are actually doing! It takes practice to master your abilities to pay bills on the right time. If you had a set of change in your jar, you may need it as a backup,--if you are low in money.
- Explore other activities - try to reduce going to any place where entertainment is expensive. You can choose to reduce mass spending, and save up some money for alternative activities like going to an arcade, or going to the park with your friends,--or write a book. Now these days, we can watch TV on the internet,--without needing to rely on traditional cable TV.
- Limit your spending - this is helpful if you were trying to keep bills as a priority. If you take responsibility of your finances like I'm doing slowly; keep your spending limits to a reasonable level. You can use a savings account to set your money aside for a rainy day. Most people who don't spend responsibly experience these issues. If you were planning on buying expensive items, saving up is important.
What happens if you don't pay your bills first?
If you don't pay your bills first, you may experience a financial stress, a fear of missing your bills that need to be paid, loss of services, and other issues. For this instance; I've learned a lesson from my mother's deceptive spending such as the following:
- Gambling - gambling was a major concern what I've experienced when my mother used my SSI funds for the purpose of gambling. Since I don't gamble,--especially in modaration... SSI funds are intended for common expenses like electrical services, rent, food, and other services. In 2011; I've experienced this issue.
- Abuse of my funds - in 2014; I was finding ways to make money with my content as a backup to keep me financially at float. I experienced a serious issue with my mother who was paying my bills, but she stole my money for her kids holiday's this selfish attack what she did has caused me to be end up in debt,--causing me to lose my internet, and phone services... causing me to be stranded without these services. I rely on these services to write books, manage websites, view bills, and more. Abuse of the SSI funds is illegal, and you can go to prison, or be banned from the program altogether. Thanks to Independent Connection Services... they took action to help me get out of the abusive trap. Well, I was a victim of financial abuse since years ago, and I didn't receive any recovered funds taken out of the abuser's account, or check issued to me. I have to be extra careful when I choose a different route to find a different payee. The Salina Emergency Food Bank used to have this program; but it was discontinued.
What I've just mentioned about what happens if you don't pay bills first via examples; I believe these will happen via the following, trust me! It happened to me since long ago:
- Depending on how much is left in your banking account, you may experience financial stress - financial stress is not good because, it can cause problems with your life. For example; you had an unpaid bill that has a late fee of $99.50 added. You are trying to pay this bill, and you have to live without internet or home phone for a while, until you had enough funds available to pay up. For some services they can report your debts to credit agencies. This is a bad thing because, it can hurt your credit.
- Debt - that doesn't apply to credit card users... but other services as well, if you don't have enough money to pay any of these bills, you can be in serious debt, for this instance, a power company group arrives at your door. Since my payee has driven me to debt. Westar Energy is the known service what I used in Salina, Kansas. They asked me if I want them to collect via collections for unpaid bills, or shut off my power completely. I chosen collect because, that kept the lights on. Financial abuse can also lead to debt. It happened to me when I experienced a problem. I've learned a lesson from my mother who defrauded me.
- Missed rent payments - this is scary when I received a notice from an apartment complex, Chapel Ridge. Thanks to the DCF specialist; he helped me out. This is a safety measure to prevent me from getting evicted from my apartment. This apartment complex should take financial abuse seriously. Thanks to these kind neighbors who helped me... there was a way how they spoke up for me. Without them, I'll be stuck without any heat or food.
These experiences what I encountered above refers to a struggle with my finances since long ago.
Whether if you rely on the internet, phone, electricity, or water... always pay your bills first.
My Thoughts
Paying my bills first is kind of like setting money aside, and saving the rest of my other money for later. It's kind of like choosing to ride a large bunny over walking a large bunny with a leash!
Detailed Thoughts
Let's pretend riding your large bunny is paying your bills first, and walking your bunny is not paying your bills first... if you make a choice to pay your bills first, or pay your bills later; it can affect your financial stability. Financial stability is important to help you keep you financially stable because, you have to rely on your financial responsibility. Let's compare these choices!
Riding a bunny - this is fun! You had full control of your animal, as you pay bills for any of these services what you use everyday; you are financially controlling your spending habits. If your large bunny has been spooked by something, she will sprint, but you can use your commands to safely stop her. If you are a rider, you control your animal like operating a car, or riding your favorite toy. You can easily choose a path to go to,--after you paid your highest bills first. You can proceed to any activity, but you can provision funds to pay your bills early. If you have extra money, you can use it,--if you wanted to do so. It's kind of like feeding your large bunny a large set of greens and carrots, and providing safe water to drink. You are taking it slow as you pay your bills, but you are strategically hopping over logs to go to the next level. And unlike controlling it with a leash, you interact with your animal. You keep up with your bills, and you keep up with your financial stability each month. It's also kind of like dismounting your bunny after riding her for a short time,--giving her long breaks, so she can learn what she done for today.
Walking a bunny with a leash - this is a traditional way we get our animals to exercise, but we're imagining large bunnies in our world... if you decided to pay your bills later, you are controlling your bunny with less control. If your bunny ever gets spooked, she may sprint away, or find a place to hide. Foxes, badgers, snakes, and even irate dogs are on the prowl for their next meal. You were just busy gambling and you were just getting expensive items for your home. This fun experience what you had may be a nightmare when your bills pile up in your inbox. Having your services shut off, or your hosting account suspended is kind of like losing your bunny when her leash is cut by a greedy person who eats rabbit as his source of meat, or eaten by foxes, badgers, and irate dogs. This experience can lead you to many problems if you don't pay your bills first. This is the example of being end up in debt coming towards you, causing you to have a bad credit on your report. Being in debt is kind of like losing control of your bunny. Getting out of debt can take lots of time, and it can be difficult for some people who were in serious financial stress. Financial stress can be scary! Even financially stable people can be stressed too, but this is natural.
Conclusion
Paying your bills first is always important because, that is 1 main financial responsibility what you should take seriously. It's kind of like personal responsibility like brushing your teeth, taking a shower, putting on clean clothes, going to work earlier, and topping up fuel at night. However; many people are still in debt because of the following factors:
- Credit Card Debt - this is still common in the USA. People has been using these cards the wrong way. You should only use these cards sparingly. But you can use it to pay for your hosting bills,--if you had a stable job, or self-employed, or you rely on SSI if you don't work.
- Bad Banking Practices - high levels of not saving money, or bouncing checks, or not saving enough money in your bank account.
- Lack of payment to services for everyday use - this is common for some people who gamble constantly.
Have you chosen to pay your bills first, or pay your bills later, and you got any of these experiences, let me know at the comments below this post.
